Female Pattern Baldness

Female baldness...

It's often that we hear about male pattern baldness, but female pattern baldness doesn't get much attention.

This lack of attention doesn't make much sense since women suffer just as much, if not more, when faced with losing their hair (or experiencing thinning hair) as men do.

Female pattern baldness is caused by hormones (changes that often occur during and after menopause), genetics, and aging itself.

So, what's the difference between male pattern baldness and female pattern baldness? Well, in male pattern baldness, the man's hairline recedes; In women's, the primary symptom is overall thinning of the hair, but the hairline itself does not recede.

Just like in male pattern baldness there is no definitive cure, short of painful and expensive hair transplants. However, there are remedies that may help with female baldness (specifically, solutions that may help regrow hair or make thinning hair more full again).

Many women are now using a product to help combat hair loss called Provillus.
