Cause of Hair Loss in Woman
Female hairloss....
It's unfortunate but true nonetheless that the hair loss industry is geared overwhelmingly towards men...both information about hairloss and products to remedy it.
Given that society places a much higher value on a woman's appearance than a man's, this state of affair seems rather odd.
As a general rule of thumb, a woman who is losing her hair is much more likely to suffer self esteem loss than a man who is losing his. This is not to belittle what a man losing his hair feels. But in our society, it's quite acceptable for a man to be balding, or even totally bald. The same, as we all know, isn't the case for women.
Although this page will not be able to cover all of the reasons for woman loss of hair, we will address a common cause of hair loss in woman.
Cause of Hair Loss in Woman
First, as you are undoubtedly aware of, there is something called "male pattern baldness." Even though you may have never heard of it, there is also a counterpart equivalent called "female-pattern baldness."
Female-pattern baldness is caused by hormones, genetics, and aging...all female hairloss factors women can't control.
After all, you can't decide which genes you get, you can't prevent aging, and you can't stop your hormones from various states of flux (especially during menopause).
First, let's discuss the difference between male pattern baldness and female-pattern baldness? Well, in male pattern baldness, the man's hairline recedes. In women's female pattern baldness, the primary symptom is overall thinning of the hair, but the hairline itself does not recede.
In short, female pattern baldness is one of the primary causes of female hairloss.
Now that you know a common cause of hair loss in woman, you should also know that there are other reasons for female hairloss.
For example:
1) Chlorine on your hair can damage your hair, and cause it to break off, resulting in hairloss.
2) Certain hairstyles that cause the hair to be very "tight" can lead to female hairloss. Examples of these kinds of styles are: ponytails, twists, braids, etc.
3) Some women may experience hair loss due to mercury ingestion. One possible cause of having a high mercury content is consuming too much fish that contains mercury, such as tuna, swordfish, and mackeral. The only way to determine your mercury level is to get tested by your physician.
4) Menopause itself may be associated with female hairloss. In addition, many women start to take prescription drugs for various health conditions at this point in their lives, and these drugs may also be a possible cause of hair loss.
