Mechanism of Psoriasis

The basic mechanism of psoriasis is excess skin formation. Every skin cell has a life cycle of 28 days. Normal skin cells grow either as normal growth or healing wound. When the skin is wounded, regenerative maturation occurs. This causes the skin to repair itself at a much faster rate.

With psoriasis, the cells go into perpetual regenerative maturation and the skin cells are reproduced at a very rapid pace while the old growth is not shed fast enough.

The result is the mechanism of psoriasis. Immunity cells respond by attacking the skin and causing scaly lesions and red formations of skin growth. Doctors now call psoriasis an autoimmune disorder for this reason.

Biologic treatments are being developed to selectively act on a subset of the T cells that are known to be responsible for forming and maintaining the psoriatic plaques. These biologic treatments aim to block the underlying mechanism of psoriasis.

Psoriasis has its course of relapses and remissions. Without treatment it can still disappear up to 50-60% for a short period of time and then relapse again at the same severity that it maintained while flaring up.

Psoriasis can cause not only physical issues but mental disturbances as well; it can have a profound impact on the sufferers overall health.

Featured Product

Skin disorders such as psoriasis have been shown to improve from fish oils. In the skin of persons with psoriasis the amount of compounds causing inflammation is many times greater than normal. Fish oil inhibits the production of these inflammatory compounds. Fish oil improves the health of skin, nails and hair.

People with psoriasis may want to think about taking fish oil supplements.

Here is the highest quality fish oils we've found from a company called Xtend-Life Natural Products. We use these fish oil capsules ourselves here at Beat Your Health Condition because one of the editors here has psoriasis and this product contains a special powerful anti-inflammatory.
